[TUHH] Tell us about yourself. Name? Where are you from? What kind of music you create?

Smarts :
My Name is Edgar Quevedo aka Smarts. I was born in Mexico and raised in Long Beach California.
I create the kind of music that is held within my emotions and thoughts. I try to add facts as much
as I can to my music.

[TUHH] How did you get started in music?

Smarts :
I've always love to rhyme since I was a kid, but really started focusing on recording
when I no longer heard what I wanted to listen to through various outlets like radio, tv and
music stores.

[TUHH] How did the Hip Hop I Am album come about?

Smarts :
Well Caper and I had done a track that Su-Preme produced before on my album Political Party a few years back.
He just sent me the track and I was with it.

[TUHH] What was the vision for your song on the " HIP HOP I AM " album? What was the title? Why did you choose that title?

Smarts :
Caper sent me the track with his verse already on it and then sent it within hours with the chorus and title already on it.
I heard the verse and chorus and knew my direction.

[TUHH] What is your favorite part of creating music or performing?

Smarts :
My favorite part of creating music is seeing where the beat is going to take my imagination.
Having people vibing with my music it and singing along is a great feeling.
Its an adrenaline rush for sure, I feel invincible when onstage.

[TUHH] Where do you get your inspiration from?

Smarts :
I get my inspiration from personal experiences and current events. So you'll hear me reference my daughter, or things
such as the TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership).

[TUHH] What are some of the highlights from the past year for you? What?s in store for 2016?

Smarts :
Ive been working a lot of features lately, artists such as Sadat X, Killah Priest, Planetary (Army of the Pharaohs), Block McCloud (Army of the Pharaohs), Capitol I-Man (Tha Mexakinz), and 2Mex (The Visionaries). I'm just building the catalog and try to work with
the elite mc's of the industry.

[TUHH] If you had to pick your top 5 ?coolest things in the world?, what would they be? (can be music related? or not)

Smarts :
One of them has to be the internet for sure.

[TUHH] Who is your favorite or most loyal fans?

Smarts :
I get all types of fan, I'm just happy i have so many. I surprised where my fan base spreads at times I get plays in places in the world I never heard of. Whenever I do I live shows I usually have that crowd of loyal fans that support from my hometown in Long Beach.

[TUHH] What is one thing you?ve learned during your career in music? Any advice for people starting out in the industry?

Smarts :
Don't ever sell yourself short.
